Barbie has partnered with Sports Illustrated for a unique campaign in the Sports Illustrated 50th Anniversary Swimsuit edition, which arrives on newsstands February 18th. The campaign carries the #unapologetic hashtag and tagline.
Barbie wears a version of her iconic black-and-white swimsuit from 1959 in the campaign. Mattel says photographer Walter Iooss was commissioned by Sports Illustrated to shoot a special editorial for the magazine. Iooss also shoots the swimsuit models for the annual magazine. The New York Times reports
that the campaign include a special cover wrap that will appear on 1,000 copies of the issue. Behind-the-scenes videos with Barbie will also be released.
Barbie has also launched a new Barbie doll to coincide with the campaign. The Barbie Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Doll can found exclusively at Target
