Astolat Dollhouse Castle Goes on Display for the First Time

The Astolat Dollhouse Castle is going on display for the first time. The dollhouse is the world's most expensive dollhouse. It is valued at $8.5 million. The display will benefit children's charities including Autism Speaks.

The amazing hand-made dollhouse contains 29 rooms with 10,000 hand-crafted miniature items. The items created by artisans around the world include paintings, furniture, jewelry, dolls, animals and more. Some of the items inside the dollhouse include a drop leaf secretary desk valued at over $5,000 and a miniature portrait valued at $1,840. There is also a baby grand piano and a 1949 Jeep Station Wagon replica.

Some of the rooms in the castle include a Wizard's Tower, library, armory, princess bedroom, trophy room and wind cellar. Some of the other features in the dollhouse include a copper roof, parquet floors, marble bathrooms faux granite fountain. The dollhouse castle stands 9 feet tall and weighs 800 pounds. The New York Times reports that the castle was built around 1980 by miniaturist Elaine Diehl.
