Ashley Benson Covers Seventeen in Patriotic Shorts
Actress Ashley Benson covers the April 2013 issue of Seventeen in a pair of patriotic American flag short shorts. She also wears a lightning bolt t-shirt and a red coat. Ashley is Hanna Marin in ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars. She also stars with Selena Gomez, Rachel Korine and Vanessa Hudgens in the upcoming film, Spring Breakers. In the Seventeen interview, Ashley talks about shooting Spring Breakers and her goal to win an Oscar.
On Spring Breakers: "Selena, Vanessa, and I all came from a Disney background, and [Spring Breakers] was different from anything we've done. But we wanted to prove that we're not just girls who play happy parts. It was such a crazy experience-I'm so proud of all of us. I'm really excited for everybody to see it."
On Wearing a Bathing Suit on the Set: "I was in a bathing suit every single day [while filming Spring Breakers]. It definitely made me more confident. We had to do a bathing suit scene for PLL. The girls were like, 'Oh my god, I don't want to be in a bathing suit on screen!' and I was like, 'Whatever. Come on, throw it on me.' It is what it is! People will make mean comments. People are going to say that you're fat, that you're this, that you’re that. You just have to be comfortable in your own skin."
On Her Career: "I love Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman - those are the careers I want. My goal is to win an Oscar, and I'm going to take the steps to get there."
