Apple announced its new iPad Air today at a press event in California. The fifth generation of Apple's popular tablet is 20% thinner and 28% lighter than its predecessor. The iPad Air is 7.5 millimeters thin and weighs only one pound. The iPad Air features a 9.7-inch Retina display.
Other specs of the iPad Air include an A7 chip with 64-bit architecture, two antennas to improve Wi-Fi performance, FaceTime HD camera and iSight camera with 5MP sensor. The iPad Air is powered by Apple's new iOS 7 operating system.
The iPad Air will go on sale on Friday, November 1. The WiFI-only version of the iPad Air will range in price from $499 for a 16GB tablet to $799 for a 128GB device. The cellular iPad Air will start at $629. Apple is also launch a new iPad mini that will start at $399 for a 16GB model.
