13,000 Boxes of Fresh, Unsold Girl Scout Cookies Crushed and Sent to a Landfill

The New York Daily News reports on the shocking waste of more than 13,000 boxes of leftover, fresh Girl Scout cookies which didn't sell. Instead of donating the boxes to a food bank, the baker sent the boxes to a landfill in Riverside, California. This is done every year, apparently. In this video from CBS Los Angeles, the worker is heard yelling . "Goodbye, Girl Scout cookies!" CBS sent an investigative reporter to look into the scandal and put the council on the hot seat. Those that run local food banks say they would be grateful for the cookies. The Girl Scouts of America says it has no position on cookie disposal. It needs one. Take a look:
