The Changing Music Scene

The music scene is changing so fast that technology like the compact disc, which only recently replaced tapes and records, is being phased out by downloadable music and MP3s. What this means for the music industry in the long term is unknown. Many people under 25 may never purchase CDs, while older music listeners already comfortable with CDs may continue to by them -- as long as they remain available. In the near future it means that music downloads will continue to become more and more popular as both young and old adapt to the latest music technology.

Dieters Seek Help Online

The Internet has become a popular source for health and dieting information. Increasingly people are also using fee-based online services that help them stick to a diet plan. Cyberdiet plans tend to be cheaper, easier to use and more private than plans that require you to weigh in at group meetings or in front of a physician. However, critics argue that these same advantages also make online diets easier to cheat on.

Shredder Sales Up On Identity Theft Fears

Fears of indentity theft have sent shredder sales soaring. Consumers worry that thieves will find personal information like credit card numbers, addresses and passwords in their trash, so they are shredding documents in growing numbers. The strong demand for shredders has also helped the price drop by 20% over the past five years. A good shredder can now be purchased for $35 to $70.

More People Drinking and Storing Wine

The popularity of drinking wine is growing and this is increasing the need for wine storage in homes. More and more people are opting for built-in wine cellars in newly built homes. The most common purchase is a 60-bottle storage unit that can be placed under a bar or kitchen counter. However, those with the money and the need to store a thousand or more bottles of wine can have small rooms built just for storing wine. Of course, there are also portable wine storage racks and coolers available at furniture retailers and home product retailers.

Online daters want to be able to find out specific information about their potential date beyond just physical appearances. Daters want information like: smoking/nonsmoking, drinking habits, religious beliefs and whether their potential date has or wants children. Daters like this type of information because they can eliminate people they are not compatible with before having to suffer through a bad date.

Tempting Kitchen Tools

Consumers are filling up their kitchen cupboards and counter spaces with tempting kitchen tools and handy gadgets. These days consumers can find kitchen electronics as specific as the quesadilla maker or the pizzelle maker. For smaller kitchen tools consumers can choose from hundreds of different varieties of spatulas, graters and measuring spoons. While it is helpful and wondeful to have such a variety and such specific tools to choose from, home chefs have to be careful not to fill up their kitchen with gadgets.
